Kristen Van Swearingen
I am a doctoral student studying Health Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Sciences. I received my M.A. in Psychological Science from UNC Wilmington in 2020.
My research interests center around intervention strategies to promote positive health behaviors. Specifically, my focus lies in understanding how emotions can be leveraged to promote greater physical activity and other health behaviors. I am also keenly interested in the digital health space, and the potential use of wearable devices to promote behavioral change. I have over two years of experience conducting research with digital mental health companies, and I hope to pursue a career in industry research, informing the development and impact of health and mental health services.
