Jocelyn Yang

Hello, My name is Jocelyn Yang. I am a current first-year student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in pursuit of B.S. degrees in Cellular Biology and Developmental Psychology. It is my intention to obtain an MD/ PhD degree to offer quality healthcare to pediatric patients as well as develop effective oncology treatments. On the arduous journey to becoming a research physician, I often karaoke to relieve stress. In conjunction, I enjoy learning about various cultures and meeting diverse individuals who inspire me to travel and develop beyond my current disposition. Although there are many significant aspects of one’s culture, I find the category of food to be the most interesting. Thus, my second favorite past time becomes transparent- I love eating and trying different foods. Currently, I am in search for African cuisine. To minimize the effect of my tangent and reroute the conversation towards lab research, I would like to allude to my research interests; I look forward to garnishing information relating to social and developmental psychology particularly the relationship between a child’s disposition in the countenance of a disease and the various factors contributing to so. Regarding the field of Biology, I am interested cancer research including the rise of regenerative medicine in hematology cancers, gene therapy for cancerous cells, and preventive techniques and procedures against cancer.
